Two couples jointly purchased this purpose built 1928 one storey plus basement 2000 square foot duplex. The Kitsilano RT-8 zoning required retaining the structure and its historic elements (front porch, windows, roof line, etc.). An extra 1000 square feet of floor area was negotiated with the City which allowed converting the unfinished attic into useable space. The project included all new foundation and finished basements (rec rooms, bedrooms, baths, mudrooms, utility areas plus walk out South patios), main floors with kitchen-dining-living areas, fireplaces, and office-guest rooms and attic spaces converted into master bedrooms with ensuite baths. The exterior design is generally symmetrical (as per the original design) though the interior layouts of the two dwelling units are not the same on both sides of the duplex. The exterior was restored and enhanced to compliment other old Kits houses in the neighbourhood. 90% complete; landscaping under construction summer 2009.
