Preliminary design for a resale house commissioned by a local developer-builder, the mid site 20’ high cliff with access drives above and below suggested a three storey solution with access by a foot bridge to the top floor and another entry at the bottom level. This North facing site with spectacular views had little sun light due to higher land and dense evergreen forest to the South. Therefore, the living-dining-kitchen areas (plus the entry, mudroom and powder room) were located on the top floor with roof ridge skylights and ample windows to capture the available sun. A deck extending to the upper cliff was also provided for outdoor dining. The mid floor included a view oriented master bedroom with balcony and ensuite, plus two other bedrooms and bath. The bottom floor with its own separate entry was designed to be flexible in use and could be a rental apartment, family suite, office, or recreation room .
